Let’s talk toilet paper!
I wanted to kick off our very first blog with a sexy, intriguing and newsworthy topic. That’s right, we’re talking about toilet paper. I’m sure you’ve all seen the adds pop up on your Facebook or Insta for ‘Who Gives a Crap’ toilet paper, and like most of us, had a little giggle at the clever marketing…. but did you click further?
After a few weeks they got me and on I clicked. It didn’t take me long to become a Who Gives a Crap convert and distribute the rolls to most of our properties! So now I’ve set myself a challenge, can I get YOU just as excited about toilet paper as me?!
Did you know 2 billion people don't have access to a toilet paper! That's roughly 40% of the global population and means that around 289,000 children under five die every year from diarrhoeal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation. That's almost 800 children per day, or one child every two minutes. These facts kickstarted the Who Gives a Crap company who now donate 50% of their profits to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world.
Secondly, they also make 100% recycled toilet paper! Ok, get your head out of the gutter… they don’t RECYCLE toilet paper… they make it from 100% recycled post consumer paper – that’s recycled office paper which is already in circulation. It’s the eco-friendliest (and most cost-effective) toilet paper they make. Most of the paper comes from schools and offices close to their production facilities, so might have been a notebook, text book, tax return, or resignation letter in a past life. How cool!
Here at Co-Host With Me we thought, “well heck, this toilet paper seems like a no brainer so let’s give it a go!” and we’ve never looked back.
I promise this post isn’t about sponsorship. We just think those people behind Who Gives a Crap are really cool doing really cool things and decided to share it with the rest of the world! If you like supporting cool people doing cool things, give them a search and start spruiking ‘crap’ to your friends too! https://au.whogivesacrap.org/pages/about-us
